Mokada Custom Jewelry Design Studio

Mona is the founder of Mokada Custom Jewelry Design Studio, a jewelry studio she opened with her daughter
and business partner. Known for thinking “outside the little velvet box”, customers turn to her for one-of-
a-kind creations and for other services including corporate gifts and insurance claims. Her journey began
when a reputable jewelry chain sought her out from an established career in an adjacent industry to join
their business, and the rest, as they say, is history. Ten years and many designs later, she opened her own
studio. Mona is the founder of Imagine: Mental Health Matters, a community coalition that is dedicated to
reaching individuals and their loved ones in crisis. Their mandate is to prevent suicide and defeat the stigma
surrounding mental health issues so that people talk openly and get the help they need. It started in 2008
with a fundraising run to remember Mona’s son Joey, who ended his life in 2007.

Mona defines leadership as, “one who leads by example and maintains a positive attitude through
good and bad.” To develop her own leadership skills, Mona keeps an open mind, listens and takes
in ideas. She attends seminars, webinars, conferences and shows. One business resource she
recommends is, ‘The 29% Solution’ by Dr. Ivan Misner, the founder of BNI. To lead successfully Mona
believes it is really important to step outside your comfort zone and to change with the times.
