Real or Synthetic?

There are many reasons you might buy a wig - illness, injury, or just wanting some spare hair. One of your main choices is: real hair or synthetic hair?

Here's some information to help you make the right decision for your circumstance.

REAL

PROS CONS
  • Realistic texture
  • Can be styled and coloured like natural hair
  • Can be maintained like natural hair
  • Easily loses shape and needs styling
  • Fewer colours available
  • pically more expensive than synthetic

SYNTHETIC

PROS CONS
  • Maintains original styling longer
  • Less expensive than real hair wigs
  • Can look similar to human hair
  • Usually more durable than human hair
  • Some may not have natural looking texture
  • Tolerates little or no heat styling
  • Somewhat flexible in order to get to it's original style
  • Can't be dyed

You should choose synthetic hair if:

  • You don't want to spend too much money on a wig
  • You do not want to maintain and style the wig on a regular basis
  • You would like to have more than one wig
  • You want to wear wigs as spare hair and still have a natural look
